Simulation Curriculum Corp. of Minnetonka, MN is pleased to announce the acquisition of San Francisco based SkySafari, developers of iOS, Mac OS X, and Android applications; and of its SkyFi, and SkyWire hardware product lines. Simulation Curriculum publishes the Starry Night and Layered Earth lines of consumer and curriculum based software. The acquisition also includes SkySafari developers Tim DeBenedictis and Bill Tschumy, who will join Simulation Curriculum, and continue to support and develop existing and new products under Simulation Curriculum.
By combining resources, Simulation Curriculum and the SkySafari teams will now be leading the industry into innovative new areas of mobile and desktop astronomy and earth science software development.
The first new product to be released under the combined company will be SkySafari 4, the flagship mobile astronomy app. SkySafari 4 represents a complete overhaul of Southern Stars' award-winning product line for iOS 7, and is available on the iTunes Store now. Plans call for release of SkySafari 4 at an introductory 50% discount through January 20th, 2013.
