Formats Help
The settings in this section let you control how SkySafari displays dates, times, and celestial coordinates throughout the program.
Time
- 12 hour - displays the time with an AM or PM.
- 24 hour - displays the time in "military" format.
- HH:MM - displays the time to the nearest minute.
- HH:MM:SS - displays the time to the nearest second.
Date
- Mmm DD, YYYY - month abbreviation and day, separated by a comma from the year.
- YYYY, Mmm DD - year, separated by a comma from the month abbreviation and day.
- MM/DD/YYYY - month, day, and year separated by slashes.
- DD/MM/YYYY - day, month, and year separated by slashes.
Geographic Longitude, Latitude
- DDD MM SS.S - to the nearest tenth of a second.
- DDD MM - to the nearest minute.
- DDD.DDDDDD - decimal degrees to the nearest millionth.
Right Ascension, Declination
- HH MM SS.SS, DD MM SS.S - RA to the nearest hundredth of a second, Dec to the nearest tenth of an arcsecond.
- HH MM SS.S, DD MM - RA to the nearest tenth of a minute, Dec to the nearest arcminute.
- HH.HHHHHH, DD.DDDDDD - decimal hours/degrees to the nearest millionth.
Ecliptic / Galactic Coordinates
Same format options as above. Ecliptic coordinates are only available in SkySafari Plus and Pro. Galactic coordinates are only available in SkySafari Pro.
