I am trying to set up an Alpaca profile to allow me to use SkySafari Pro 7 on my iPad with my Celestron NexStar 6se. I have CPWI running on my Windows 10 laptop with a serial cable to the handset and then start up the Alpaca Remote Server and the AlpacaScope app. Once this is done, I am able to successfully connect to the scope with my iPad and use SkySafari for GoTo movements of the scope. However, the slew rate buttons seem to be fixed on a setting of 2. Also, when I use the horizontal and vertical slew buttons to manually move the scope, only the horizontal buttons work. Nothing happens with the vertical slew buttons. Note that I am still able to manually move the scope in any direction using the CPWI slew controls and the slew speed control in CPWI works fine. Any idea what’s going on? I was hoping to be able to use SkySafari Pro as my primary scope control interface so I don’t have to switch back and forth between the laptop and the iPad. Thanks for any suggestions.

J Harn Keiron,
Thanks for your quick response. I followed the instructions in the post you referenced above but am still having the same problem with the slew buttons and slew speeds not working. I am able to Goto selected objects in SS7 but I am not able to use the slew buttons to manually move the mount. I use the latest version of ASCOM (6.6 SP1) and the latest version of ASCOM Remote (6.6.8324.21963), running on my Windows 10 laptop. I connect to my Nexstar 6se with a USB to serial cable. I am using SkySafari Pro 7 (7.1.3 (1060)). I have tried SS7 on both my iPad (iPadOS 15.7.1) and my iPhone 12 (iOS 16.1.1). Both devices show the same problem with the slew controls. Note that this time I did not run AlpacaScope as mentioned in my original post. I didn't realize that SS7 no longer requires it to be running. I simply used the Alpaca profile that SS7 creates, allowing it to automatically discover the ASCOM Remote settings which it seemed to do successfully. As mentioned in my original post, both CPWI and Sharpcap slew buttons and slew rate controls continue to work correctly. I hope you have another suggestion as I'd really like to get this working. I prefer the SS7 planetarium features to what CPWI provides and it's not convenient to run the scope controls from the laptop. Let me know if you have any additional suggestions.

J Harn Keiron,
After reading the post entitled, “[Alpaca]* SS7 Only Sends EQ Commands To My AltAz Mount,” it appears that my problem is likely caused by the Alt/Atz slew commands not being sent to my Celestron NexStar 6se. Out of curiosity, I reinstalled SS6 Pro on my iPad. I set my scope up by first running CPWI, ASCOM Remote, and AlpacaScope on my laptop, which was connected to the scope by a USB to serial cable. I then connected to my scope using SS6 Pro on my iPad. Everything works fine, including the slew buttons and the slew speed controls. The slew commands in CPWI continue to work, as do the controls in Sharpcap. Apparently your coders broke something when you created SS7. Since SS7 has some nice features, I hope you release an update soon that fixes this problem. Any idea when the next release is scheduled? In the meantime I’ll be using SS6 until you fix it.
