Starry Night Celestron SE vs SkySafari

I received my Celestron 130SLT from my children as a gift. I am very new to all this and in the process of learning as I go. When I received the Celestron 130SLT there was a version of Starry Night Celestron SE software available for free as a download. It came with a verification number. I was able to download the software with no problems and receive my verification code. However, today, I received an offer to upgrade to SkySafari. My question is, what is the difference between these two software programs? Am I o.k. using the Starry Night Celestron SE? Additionally, is the Starry Night Celestron SE software similar to the Starry Night Pro or Enthusiast version? Thanks for the help.

    Hi Jim,

    Starry Night Celestron SE is perfect to get started with your new Celestron telescope.  Starry Night is not supported on mobile devices (iOS & Android).  SkySafari is our #1 professional astronomy app for mobile devices.  That would be the leading reason you may want to pick up SkySafari 5 Plus at this time.  As a beginner, you would find that both Starry Night SE and SkySafari Plus offer an equivalent set of features and databases.

    Thank you for the quick response. I am currently using the free version of SkyPortal powered by SkySafari 5. SkySafari 5 Plus seems to be a decent upgrade over SkyPortal. I'll probably give it a try as I continue to learn. Thanks again.
