Search function

I would guesstimate that 90% of the searches I do would involve a number, such as an NGC or IC or M number in the search field. When you select the search tab, the alphabet keyboard displays, and I have to select the '.?123' number tab to get the number display up. I thought it would be a nice idea, for when you select the search tab, the keyboard pops up with the numbers on display instead of the letters.

I think different people will want different things.  I suspect most of my searches do not start with a number.  I also generally type NGC if that is the catalog I want and not just the number. This prevents me having to scan through all the catalog matches.  I don't even think it is possible to bring up the keyboard (on iOS at least) with the numeric option pre-chosen  I can bring up a "numeric" keypad, but that won't let you type letters.

One thing I notice, when I bring up the search screen and tap on the search text box to get the keyboard up, there's no cursor in the search box. I find this slightly disconcerting - not sure if this is a feature or a bug?

This is all handled by the operating system.  If there is no cursor then it is the one screwing up. Are you on Android or iOS?

Not sure what to tell you.  I see the cursor every time on mine.  We don't do anything to show/hide the cursor.  As I said, this is handled automatically for us.

Do you change the Tint colour at all?

I see a blue cursor when I use "Color Chart", but nothing when I use "Inverse Monochrome Chart" (which is my preferred mode).

I see the same behaviour with the dialog for adding one's observations to a list item - blue cursor for a colour chart, invisible for a monochrome one.
