I use one Ipad with Sky Safari Pro 5 to control my Meade LX200R and a second Ipad with XSories to control and take photos with a DSLR. All this is done within the comforts of my home. But still requires focusing the camera during the initial setup and at times during the evening. The addition of being able to remotely control the focuser would allow full remote operation. The perfect set-up. This would be a great downloadable update.

Bill Tschumy We've always avoid getting involved in control for astrophotography. I don't think that will change any time soon. Sorry.

Gary The motorized focuser is not necessary for astrophotography. Some SCTs have the problem of mirror shifting while focusing with the manual focuser so using the motorized focuser avoids this. I use the motorized focuser during both visual and photography. The motorized focuser is controlled by the hand held controller which as you know is also used to slew the telescope, just like using Sky Safari. So this request is not just for astrophotography control. This requested feature will allow the observer to have additional control while also standing at the scope by using just one device (for example an Ipad) and avoid switching between the Ipad and the hand held controller, especially when refocusing after changing eyepieces. I would greatly appreciate if you would please reconsider this request.

Bill Tschumy How many motorized focusers are there out there that we'd have to support?

Gary Good question. The OPT web site lists 7 companies that make motorized focusers but I do not know if they are compatible with mounts supported by Sky Safari. Maybe other users in the Sky Safari Community can answer this. Are the Meade Stella and Orion Star Seek made by you guys? If so their markets could benefit.
