Yahoo had a file section where you could share and download observing lists. Yahoo no longer recognizes my email address. Wondering if there is a place here where I might find SkySafari observing lists for Astronomical League observing programs?

Bill Tschumy In SkySafari 5 there is an option to "Import From Online Repository". We have a number of AL lists there (all that were on Yahoo). If someone wants to make more, send them to me and I'll add them to the repository.

w smith Bill, Great feature. Did not find the list I needed but I do have 3 lists to send you. Where do I email them?
Thanks

Mike Schi Hi Bill, I just sent you the AL Open Cluster observing list. I searched the old Yahoo site and did not find the list. If it exists, let me know where I can find it. If not, would you be able to create, or let me know how to create and the file (csv, txt, xls, etc.) and format. Thanks!

Bill Tschumy Mike,
I've already responded to your private email. If you are a SkySafari user it should be easy to make the observing list your self and send it to me. I'm swamped right now with the Mac version of SS6. It would be a couple of weeks before I could make this.

w smith Mike,
I have the Open Cluster list in Excel format and also entered in SkySafari Pro 5 as an observing list. I could email you the Excel spread sheet. I looked around SS 5 but could not figure out a way to export the list in that format. I also have SkySafari pro 6 but have not used it yet. I assume there is a way to convert the list from 5 to 6 and maybe there is an export function in 6. I would be happy to spend a little time on this if you point me in the right direction. My astronomy is a little rusty as it has taken a back seat to some family issues (now mostly resolved) for the past year.

Bill Tschumy Mike, just email the SS5 list to me. The format hasn't changed. When you invoke the "email" option, be sure to send it without any observation data.

Mike Schi Bill (W Smith), I have SS6 Pro loaded now but I believe the process is the same; within the observing list there’s an option to email the list (in 6 it’s under actions and settings). This opens the email app on your phone and you type the email address. I emailed all my lists from 5 and uploaded them without issue into 6. My email is: mschi99@yahoo.com
Really appreciate you sending it to me! Thanks.

Revjasonfry The Custom Oberving List section doesn’t appear in my Sky Safari 6. I attempted to download some lists by email and when I looked and they weren’t there, I noticed that there no reference at all to custom observing lists (like I have in version 5). What is the problem? Isn’t it supposed to have a section for custom observing lists even when none are created yet?

Bill Tschumy Hi Jason,
The UI has been changed a bit from SS5. There is now an Observe menu button. The Observing lists are accessed from there.

Revjasonfry Thanks, Bill. I found them that way. I'm curious as to why that change was made. The other lists are in the search menu (Messier, etc.) and it seems easier to have them all in the same place (custom lists and default lists) as in SS5. Just my two cents.
