"-" button doesn't works properly

Hello forum, my name is Alex. I bought today the Sky Safari 5 pro from Appstore. Im running it on iPhone 7 plus with latest iOS. I noticed that the "+" button and the "-" button works differently. The "-" button doesn't works with a single click but I must long press it to work. Different way for the "+" button that works with a single tap.

Thanks for now and greetings for this awesome app.

Alex

    Alex,

What buttons are you referring to?  Are these the zoom in/out buttons in the lower left and right of the chart?  If so, I don't see any problems with them.

I noticed the same thing on my iPhone! But thought it was a problem with that part of the touch screen on my phone (SS5 Plus).

The zoom in (+) is very sensitive and works well.  But the zoom out (-) doesn't always respond.  Eventually I can always get it to work, but it is definitely less sensitive than the (+) for me.

Yep, I noticed the same issue on my iPhone 6s w/latest iOS.

It works perfectly on my iPad Pro (both buttons are responsive either to a tap or to holding).  But on the phone, only the “+” button is responsive to either a tap or a hold…but the “-“ button is difficult to use.

I’ve notice that when the button detects the press, the button icon (“+” with a circle around it, or “-“ with a circle around) will dim out when active.  The + does this very responsively, but the - doesn’t dim and I find that if I wiggle my finger around it finally activates (and dims).  it is as if the defined spot that has to be pressed to trigger the action is smaller and the phone thinks your finger is missing that spot.  But the + side button possibly has a larger defined “hit box” that will register as your intention to press the + button.

Again… works perfectly on the iPad.  (I am using a 12.9” iPad Pro).

OK, I see what you guys are talking about.  You're right that it is only on my iPhone 6s.  On the iPad (where i do most of my testing) it works fine.  I will investigate.

How very weird that this would be different.  I also don't see how anything could have changed in this release to affect it.

This is going to be hard to figure out.  The operating system is delaying delivering the button press event on the zoom out button only.  The two buttons are configured exactly the same so I can see o reason it would do that.

Works perfectly in the simulator on 10.2.  Just not on the hardware.  I will need to test on some other hardware to see if I can isolate the conditions it happens under.  This almost surely is some iOS bug we've triggered with the new release.

I've tested on a variety of devices.  The only one that has the problem is an iPhone 6s running 10.2.  I suspect there are other combinations that may have it but that is all the real devices I have to test on.  The iPhone simulator doesn't show the problem (even simulating an iPhone 6s on 10.2).

I may have to report this to Apple but I really don't think this is a SkySafari bug per se.

Could those that are having the problem report your device and iOS version please?  That will help to categorize this.

    Sure thing, Bill.

I have an iPhone 6s / 64GB  (Settings -> General -> About shows the model as an NKRL2LL/A) running iOS 10.2.1

Hello Bill, sorry for my late reply. this happens on my iPhone 7 Plus. I'm an Game App developer and I can confirm that many times issues happens on real devices and not on the simulator. Anyway this issue is a very minor GUI bug and doesn't affect the workflow.
Take my topic post only for report this little issue as a bug tester :)

    Alessandro,

Can I assume you are on iOS 10.2.1?

I have not yet found a solution for this.  It is very likely an iOS bug and hopefully will be fixed in a future release.
