Menu icons are gone! iPad, SS5 Plus

iOS 10.2.1

Has been working perfectly for months. Then last night I noticed that Jupiter surface was not displaying. Weird.

Clicked Settings icon, turned on planet surfaces display (it had somehow turned itself off without me making any change), then "Done" and back to main screen. Uh-oh, no icons along bottom of screen. Now I cannot access any menus at all so I am limited to only scrolling, zooming, etc.

Have installed all available SS updates, but cannot access settings to confirm SS version number.

Please help.

FYI, I have tried rotating to portrait mode. No joy. My configuration does not permit autorotation.

    Jim,

I don't know what has happened to you.  Sounds like something has been corrupted.  When you say the configuration does not let you auto-rotate, do you mean you have the "Allow Auto-rotation" setting in SkySafari turned off?

You could always use iTunes File Sharing to locate the [CurrentSettings].skyset file and delete or rename it.  That will reset your settings to the defaults but won't lose observing list, equipment, location, etc.

BTW: I've just added some code to prevent you from ever  having "Allow Auto Rotation" and "Toolbar in Landscape" both OFF at the same time.  Surprisingly this  has only come up once or twice before in the long history of SkySafari.

Thanks, Bill. Good idea to remove possibility of auto-rotate and no-menu-in-landscape both enabled! That combo will pretty much brick the app.

To fix, I uninstalled and reinstalled. Since I use iCloud for saving observing lists, etc., I did not lose anything except the corrupted settings.

Still a mystery as to what caused the corrupted settings to begin with, though
