Location Detail and Management

Hello.

The programming of a new location is a bit awkward in the sense that the UI always defaults to something fixed, so if you select a user defined location and then activate the coordinates tab, you just see the same old default.

I want to verify to be sure of the location I have chosen, and since unfortunately the main UI does not provide that convenience I have to look everywhere for it, promising  myself I will write it down this time.

So where do I go to be sure my location parameters are correct, and where inside the program can I manage the list? I know these can be done, just don't know where.

Thanks.

    Hi Farzad,

Go to Set Home Location ---> Choose location from list ---> Choose the Longitude & Latitude tab ---> Enter NEW coordinates ---> Save as a new location (use a slightly different location name).  Verify the new location is in the list (might require a restart).  Delete the old entry provided everything with the new entry looks good.

Alternatively, if you want to dig into the Starry Night Prefs you can go here:

    (Windows) \Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Local\Simulation Curriculum\Starry Night Prefs\Locations\Earth-E.txt

    (OS X)  /Users/<YourUserName>/Library/Application Support/Simulation Curriculum/Starry Night Prefs\Locations\Earth-E.txt

Open Earth-E.txt in a text editor.

FInd the location and change the coordinates.

    Save the file.

    Start SN7.

    Should be changed.

    Hi Farzad,

You will need to give me an example, perhaps with screenshots, so I can clearly understand the issue here.

    Thanks!

See attached video that shows it working fine now whereas it didn't before. Well, it turns out I cannot upload a video. But it works now.

How do I change coordinaTes of an existing location from within SN?

    Thanks

That is a good approach. But how do you delete one from the list?

    Hi Farzad,

Go to Set Home Location ---> Choose location from list ---> Press the backspace/delete key.

    That;s it.
