Strategy for Observing lists in iCloud

Do you have a recommended strategy for controlling observing lists with iCloud?

I have SkySafari 5 pro that I use on several Macs, IPads and iPhones. I use iCloud syncing so I can hop from one to another as need arises. The problem is I have multiple copies of lists and old, deleted lists have reappeared. Obviously I'm doing something wrong.

I would like one master somewhere, that's then propagated to all devices. When I make changes/ additions it would be on only one or two main devices. What's the best way to do this? Perhaps a quick tutorial on how you do iCloud syncing would help me get a good workflow.

Thanks

Have you read the help on cloud syncing?  Look in:  Help > Settings Help > Storage Help.

I have now. Sorry, I are [were?] an engineer, ret.

So it sounds like I want iCloud to be the master. Then delete the local files, after backup[done]. When I make changes, put SSP in the background and wait for iCloud to decide it wants to sync. By "put in the background" what exactly is that on macOS? Just giving another app the focus, or minimizing the window? iOS is obvious.

On Mac you put either quit the app or put it in the background.

Ok, thanks. I will try ICloud as master.
