Hello. I have been trying to use my Iphone/Skysafari to verify my scope GOTOs, for daytime simulations.
When I place the phone against the back of the scope and slew to the object, as I get the object nearly centered the screen jumps, placing the object out of the phone screen FOV. This happens every time.
What causes this and how do I prevent it from happening?

Here is additional info about this problem. I don;t get that with SkySafari 5 Plus. That app is far more stable.
As of yet (Duh!) I have not received any replies. I hope to get this resolved soon so I can use it in my observatory.
Just one more bit of help needed, when touching the sceen and it freezes, waht is the easiest way to get it following my movements again?

Hi Fred,
Placing the phone against the back of the scope and slewing to an object is not a use case scenario for which SkySafari has been developed - for exactly the reasons experienced here; ie. the internal gyroscope has an unexpected drift that is not accounted for.
To explain the touch/screen freeze you will have to outline your entire setup; i.e. telescope, mount, connection type, mobile device, operating system, etc.

My screen freezes (as it should) when I do a pinch zoom or accidentally touch the screen.
Here is the info you asked of me: scope is a Meade LX200 8" OTA, it is on a Mountain Instruments MI-250 GOTO EQ, connection (for the Iphone) is cellular data plus wifi, Iphone 5s, IOS 11.2. This is just using the app as a planetarium program, no connection to the mount.
Other than shaking (or tilting) the Iphone, is there a fast easy way to unlock the screen? Sometimes it takes several tilts/shakes before I can use the display again.
I do hope to use the app wifiscope on my Windows laptop, but I cannot get it to install properly. That issue I posted on the Main Sequence software forum.

Hi Fred,
Tap the Compass button on the main toolbar. That should correct the FOV after it has been stick.
Please also update this post with your progress using SkySafari in this way!

Keiron, thank you for all your help. The "tap the compass button" works like a champ.
Now if the developers could only find a way to use the app, where you can place the phone or tablet on the back of a scope-one can dream!
That would assist doing an initial polar alignment.
