Is SkySafari 5 Pro Receiving Support For iOS 16.2? (Answer: No, SS5 Is No Longer Supported, Will Not Receive Further Updates - Please Upgrade To SS7 To Stay Current And Compatible)

I've discovered an issue with SkySafari 5 Pro (which I prefer) using my new iPhone 14 Pro Max running iOS 16.2.

I noticed last night COMETS are out of date. If I select "Updating Minor Body Orbit Data" in the Solar Systems page all files are updated fine. However, when SS5 is closed and re-opened the comets updates are no longer stored. I noticed this when I searched for Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) and Comet C/2020 V2 (ZTF). Has anyone else noticed this?

This problem has never happened on my older iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 12.5.6

I know SS5 is not on the App Store but will there possibly be a fix for this?

Thank you.

    Kent,

SS5 is very old now, and will not receive anymore updates.

However, you can always download SS5 again if you previously purchased the app - and provided the OS version also supports SS5.

So, it is possible to uninstall and reinstall.

SS5 was not developed for the latest iOS operating systems, so sooner or later issues will emerge due to incompatibility.

That said, this might just require reinstalling the app, or rebooting your device.

    Thanks!
