iPadOS Update 16.3 Breaks Night Mode With Keyboard No Longer Red (Can Anyone Else Reproduce This Issue?)

I have noticed that when my IPad updated to 16.3 that in Night Mode the keyboard is no longer red and is very bright, which hurts dark adaptation.  Is there a fix or workaround for this?

Now that you mention it, that is when my ipad keyboard stopped going to red in Night Mode - upgrading to ios 16.3 seems to be the cause.

I did find a temporary workaround until when/if they fix it.  In Settings, go to Accessibility - Display and Text Size - Color Filters, and change to a red filter by taking the Hue bar all the way to the right.  Better than nothing anyway.

Actually, this workaround is more than just a workaround: I think it is important: whenever another app intrudes with a notification or otherwise, it almost hurts my night-adapted eyes. With this turned on, everything on the iPad or iPhone is reddened. I still go into night mode on SkySafari, because the graphics are optimised for this mode.

I enter and leave the red disability mode by pressing the side button thrice.

How were you able to do that?  With my Ipad, the side buttons only control the volume.  If I triple click the top button, it puts the Ipad into "Guided Access" mode, which is very handy to use with Sky Safari.  It is basically a kiosk mode which only allows one app to function, in this case, Sky Safari.  It blocks that light bar at the bottom which kills night vision, and it also keeps notifications from popping up.  It also stops the screen from going to sleep.  Without it, if it my Ipad's screen turns black, then it pulls up the keypad for a Pin #, which also kills night vision.  Look like for now I will have to use all 3 for it to work as it should

    Hi David,

    I’m still on iOS 15.7.2.

In iPad Settings>Accessibility>Accessibility Shortcut select Color Filters. You have already set the Color to Red previously. On my iPad Pro 9.7 it has a physical Home button to press 3x to enable/disable the Red Color Filter.

In SkySafari Pro you can go to Settimgs>Appearance & Behavior >Prevent Sleep. Also an option in iPad Settings>Display&Brightness>Auto-Lock to Never.

In your iPad Settings you can adjust Touch ID & Passcode time duration requirements from Immediately up to 4Hours.

    I personally don’t need/use Guided Access.

    David,

Can now also reproduce the White Keyboad issue in Red Night Mode after finally upgrading my iPad Pro 9.7 to iOS 16.3.1 using SS7Pro 7.1.8

This bug / issue is not present in SS6Pro that I still have installed on the same iPadPro9.7
