I'm a long-time happy user of SSPro, having been using it for years as the only-ever interface to my push-to alt-az mount (Discmounts Dm6 with astrodevices encoders).
To do an observing session, I velcro my iphone 12 (latest iOS) to the mount so that it always faces me. I always velcro the iphone in a vertical manner (rather than landscape), as it is much easier to see and scan around the sky in this orientation. Horizontal would not work for on my small phone. The phone never leaves the mount and it's so convenient to use this way.
In SS6 - as the phone is in portrait mode - I happily swipe the bottom dock-like icons left and right as i need to access them (eg. "observe", "info", "time" etc etc.).
This setup is a JOY to use! I can't thank SC enough for this software, and what simplicity it brings to my observing.
So, I recently moved to SS7Pro and immediately noticed that you have removed the ability to "swipe" the bottom dock left or right.(Please educate me if i've missed something, or need to enable swiping in the settings etc.).
This seemingly small thing has unfortunately stopped me using SSPro7 in my tracks. I'm not sure why you got rid of that ability, because it's absence doesn't seem to have any upside (at least to me). Whenever i need to click on a dock icon that isn't on the screen i have to rip the phone off the velcro, landscape it, press the icon i need, and then velcro it back in the vertical direction. It has become unusable in my ~6 hour observing sessions.
(I'm aware of the conext-sensitive pop-up menu that comes up when you press on a star, but this doesn't cover all of the dock icons, and is also very fiddly to do on a small phone all night).
So, unfortunately I've had to move back to SS6, and unless "swiping" comes back, i can't see myself being able to use SS in the future :-(
This is a horrible thought to me, as it is such a wonderful piece of software.
*** So, I'd like to ask Simulation Curriculum to bring back the abilty to "swipe" the dock left and right whilst in Vertical mode on your phone. ***
I can't see how this would *cause* any issues, and it would certainly solve quite a few for me - seems like a no-brainer :-)
OK, Let me know what you think, and again, if i've missed something, like how to enable scrolling then could you educate me?
