Could you consider expanding the equipment categories to cater for mounts?
I’d like to be able to record the mount used in an observation. It probably relates to the whole session, but I think it would be simpler just to assign it to an observation, and then have it behave like any other assigned equipment – i.e. it’s included automatically in subsequent observations for that session, unless it is explicitly removed.
There doesn’t need to be a pre-populated list to choose from, I could just add my own custom items.
Since it would not be optically active, there should be no effect on any other functionality, e.g. the calculated FOV and magnification are unaffected. It would be a pure attribute.
In fact, it might make sense to make the new category more general, perhaps “accessory” or “other”, and then users could add other equipment as custom items. For example, there’s another discussion somewhere about how to record the diagonal used in an observation. At the moment, some people are setting them up as magnification 1.0 custom Barlows, but it would be cleaner if they could just define a bespoke custom accessory in their equipment list, for example: “Diagonal - Baader BBHS”.
