I recently acquired an ioptron CEM 40 with a iStarFi wi fi connector. I then purchased SkySafari 6 Pro on the Apple App Store and run it on my iPad and iPhone, both with updated firmware.
Below is my SkySafari set up page (pardon my French!). I get the following error message: Skysafari Pro can make a wireless connection to the scope, but the scope is not responding. I updated the CEM 40 and hand controller firmwares with no success. I contacted ioptron and sent the same information contained in this post but radio silence since. My vendor also contacted ioptron who answered that both iStarFi connector cables should be used but there is only one cable that goes to the iPort jack.
Can anybody offer guidance? Merci

Keiron Smith Jaques,
Please read through other posts in our community forum like this one here:
Ask a CEM40 user who has posted about success using SkySafari to assist you with your configuration.
We do not have an iOptron CEM40 in house for testing.
And, this is a technical issue that should be supported by iOptron, since it is iOptron that brought StarFi to market claiming support via SkySafari. So, persist with them for a resolution, and please post your success story here in the end.
Thanks!

Jacques Jolivet Thank you for your response. I will recontact Ioptron. Could this issue be addressed by a SkySafari update?

Jacques Jolivet Ioptron responded promptly after I mentioned that I had posted this issue on your site. They had me change the mount selection to CEM120 from CEM/iEQ Pro/AZ (as per their online manual). Problem solved. I hope this helps others who encounter the same problem and that they upgrade their manual soon as I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to solve this issue. Merci

Jean Bernard Minster I had exactly the same problem, with an iOptron Cube Pro, 8408 hand controller, StarFi, an iPhone 15, (and an iPad Pro) running Skysafari 7.3.1 Pro. I spent several hours fooling around with the various settings, updating the firmware on the HC and the mount, and verifying that "Alt-Az. GoTo" was the correct mount type and "iOptron smarEQ/iEQ/ZEQ & 8407/8" the correct Scope type (both recommended by iOptron). I could get the Apple devices to connect to the WiFi, but the scope was unresponsive. After much searching and reading I ran across this thread, and in despair, selected "iOptron CEM/EQ Pro/AZ Mount Pro" as the scope type, and ..bingo, SkySafari started to control the scope flawlessly. BTW, I tried the AP-STA mode for the StarFi and this did not work at all, until I reset the StarFi to factory settings, in AP mode. I think some aspects of the documentation are worse than confusing, and at times misleading. :-(. Happy New Year!
