As mentioned in https://support.simulationcurriculum.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/17342602045975/comments/18265051321111, it looks like Android 14 makes it even harder than Android 13 to install custom panoramas (likely rooting the device is the only work around - I've not tried). As suggested by markusd112, it would be nice if SS7 could import an image from a readable folder (e.g. Downloads). This seems like a more supportable solution than previous methods because it does not require users to work around the device permissions.
Suggested work flow:
- Menu->Settings->Horizon & Sky->Import Panorama
- Browse to location
- Select file
- SS7pro reports if the file is in wrong format (rather than install an unusable image)
- SS7pro copies the image to the appropriate location
Related additional feature: "Edit" button for list of Horizon Panoramas to allow sorting, hiding of stock images, or removal of user provided.
The motivation for suggesting both these features is that I've made extensive use of custom horizons in SS7pro (on my Android 13) because I have lots of trees and very little visible sky. I have eight custom horizons made for different parts of the yard that let me plan where to set up my scope. I would love to not have to swipe through the existing panoramas which, although beautiful, are useless to me with my narrow view of the sky.
Thanks for considering the request!
