ASI AIR Plus Works With EQ6-R Pro But SkySafari 7 Pro Doesn't Control Mount Using WiFI (User Needs Community Help)

Is it possible to connect Sky Safari (6 or 7) to an EQ6-R Pro that is being controlled from an ASI Air Pro? I've tried both the EQMOD cable and USB - USB cable. Meade LX200 apparently used to work but I can't get it going. Sky Safari reports that it can contact the mount over wifi but the mount type is incorrect. There is a SkyWatcher Synscan and Synscan Linked - neither work. The EQ6-R Pro seems to be very popular and many of the forum members aren't upgrading to 7 because they would lose the function. Can you help pls? The ASI Air plus controls it just fine using either cable.
