Originally from ticket #6274.
I have a Celestron CPC 1100 and Starry Night Astrophoto Suite 6.3.3. I am trying to syncronize my telescope with Starry Night, but not having much luck. I am following the manual, which states:
If the view through your telescope still does not match what Starry Night Pro is showing onscreen, use Starry Night Pro to slew to an object that is easy torecognize, such as a bright star (see the next section for information on slewing your telescope to objects using Starry Night Pro). Next, guide the telescope
using its built-in control devices (a handbox or controls on the telescope itself), so that the bright star is in the centre of your view when you look through the telescope eyepiece (i.e. the view in Starry Night Pro will now match what you see through the eyepiece). Finally, press the Sync Gaze button.
I am following these steps. However, when I manually slew the scope via the hand control to centre the object in my FOV, the Starry Night on screen indicator. Thus, when I select sync gaze, the proper view through teh scope is now sync'd with an incorrect location in Starry Night. This combination of steps makes it impossible to sync. I would have expected a way to tell Starry Night to "stay where it is" while I slew the scope to the matching position.
How do I sync? Thanks.
Sorry. The second sentence in the third paragraph should have read, "However, when I manually slew the scope via the hand control to centre the object in my FOV, the Starry Night on screen indicator moves with it (still not in sync, however).
