Is there any way of brightening/enlarging the white dots of the planets when shown at minimum magnification, as can be done with the stars?

Originally from ticket #5558.

Hello

I have just obtained version 6.4.3 of Enthusiast, and am very impressed.

However - there is one small enquiry.

I have compiled a fairly comprehensive catalogue of solar eclipse simulations. I absolutely LOVE the new corona effect in 6.4.3, but am very disappointed that the planets show up only very faintly in relation to the surrounding stars. This is very starkly shown up by comparing the same simulations done in version 6 and version 5 (both attached).

Is there any way of brightening/enlarging the white dots of the planets when shown at minimum magnification, as can be done with the stars?

I have tried checking the Magnification item in the Find drop down menu, but it doesn't solve this particular problem. However you might enjoy the simulations of the early evening sky in April 2002 (attached), with the moon and major planets magnified (if someone hasn't done those already). A pity that Uranus and Neptune weren't in the same part of the sky at that time!!

Is there anything that can be done about this enlargement in a future update?

Please advise

Thank you very much

ANDY PEATE

    Hi Andy,

Have a look in File ---> Preferences ---> Brightness/Contrast ---> change the min/max planet size option.

    Does that help?

    Hello Keiron

    Thanks for the prompt reply

    Please see attached file

From my preferences panel on the left, am I to assume that planet re-sizing is not available on Enthusiast?

    Or have I missed something??

    Please advise

    Thanks

    Hi Andy,

I am very sorry for the misinformation.  I used Pro Plus to examine the issue.  I thought these preferences were in Enthusiast too.  I will ask one of the developers if there is anything else you can do.

    Hi Keiron

Have you been able to speak to anyone yet?  I'm assuming this feature is not and won't be available in Enthusiast, unless...!

As the price difference between Pro Plus and Enthusiast is so huge: is this feature available in Pro?

How much would an upgrade be?

    Please advise

    Thanks
