Jupiter Trojans in Starry Night?

Originally from ticket #5846.

Hi there,

I'm a happy user of Starry Night Pro Plus. I am wondering if anyone
out there has already created Starry Night parameter files for some
(or all!) of the Jupiter Trojan asteroids. There are about a
thousand known so far, and they orbit in large "clouds" of asteroids
60 degrees ahead and 60 degrees behind Jupiter, in the L4 and L5
Lagrange points. I'm planning some observing of these objects and
would love to use Starry Night to help with the planning... but
would not love to have to add a whole bunch of asteroid orbital
parameters manually, especially if someone has already done it!

Thanks in advance for any help or leads that you can provide.

    Jim,

Because of their special orbits, it's not possible to add a Trojan asteroid to Starry Night (and have it stay where it should) right now. It's definitely an interesting idea and something we'd like to do in the future.

    Thanks,

    Dave
