The owners manual says it's under "options" but I don't see it there. What am I missing? I'd like to sit outside and use my computer without it ruining my night vision.

Keiron Smith The User's Guide is written for all programs, and isn't always clear about which program it is referring to when discussing available features.
Night vision mode (red screen) is a feature only available in Starry Night Pro and Pro Plus. If you look in the User's Guide, above where this feature is discussed, you should see two sub-titles for Pro/Pro Plus.

Anson Cards In my humble opinion, it would make better business sense to make this an option for all versions of this software - especially considering the multitude of free similar alternatives available. Withholding a simple red tint screen guarantees no one is going to take this program outside with them. The program astronomers spend the most time with is the program they will stick with.

Keiron Smith Thanks, Anson, for your feedback. Your comment is insightful - and I will bring it up for discussion in the company.
