Why does SN think I don't have a network connection?

I'm using SN Enthusiast version 6.0.4 on an iMac running OS X 10.8.2. When I try to update the comet and asteroid information, I get a message saying that "a connection to the update site on the Internet could not be established".  It then tells me that I have to be connected to the Internet to use the update feature. I have a working Internet connection. Is this a known bug, or is the update server broken?
