    Hi Jeffrey, 

    Angular Separation is available in Enthusiast, Pro and Pro Plus.  Angular Separation is not a tool available in CSAP or either Orion Special Edition or Celestron Special Edition (which are both based on CSAP).

    Hello John, 

    Yes, the angular separation tool are in both Mac and Windows. Here are some instructions:

    If you point at an object and click and hold the left mouse button and then drag the mouse to a second object, a line appears that connects the two objects. The angular separation between the two objects is displayed, along with the direction of the line and the actual distance between the two objects (if known).

    Thanks for the reply Sophie, but I still can't make the tool work.

     

    If I have the adaptive tool, left clicking changes the arrow to the hand, and I drag the view. If I change to the arrow tool, clicking and dragging doesn't produce a line.

     

    Am I missing something?

    Hello John,

    I believe it doesn't matter which tool you have selected at the moment - I am using the adaptive tool, and it still works as well. Make sure that your cursor is pointed at an object. Try double clicking on that object and dragging.

    Hi Sophie,

    Still no luck I'm afraid. 

    Single click & drag with the adaptive tool drags the whole view. Double click brings up the information window. 

    Single click & drag with the arrow tool - nothing!

     

    I'm clicking/ dragging when the cursor is over the object, such that the object information is displayed next to the cursor.

     

    I'm runninng "Starry night 7 complete space and astronomy pack" version 7.4.1.813 kcEW under windows 10.

     

    The rest of the software works perfectly well, but I'm starting to think that this tool is a myth.... :o)

    Hello John,

    My apologies for not asking which Starry Night Version 7 product you have at the beginning - the angular separation tool is actually not available in Complete Space & Astronomy Version 7. We realized that there is a mistake in the User's Guide on this, and we will be working on making this change soon.
