Starry Night Pro Plus 7 (Mac) and WiFi Scope Control with SkyQ Link

I have Starry Night Pro Plus 7 (SNPP7) installed and running on my MacBook Pro. I want to use SNPP7 to control my (Celestron CGEM DX) scope mount, preferably over a WiFi link using Celestron's "SkyQ Link" product. I have learned that SkySafari for iOS allows this control from iPhone/iPad, and so I have just now taken advantage of the current (early May 2014) pricing special and I purchased SkySafari 4 Pro, with the express intent of using this on my iPhone/iPad to control my CGEM DX mount through the SkyQ Link. HOWEVER, it appears that SkySafari is not all that SNPP7 is, and so it would be awesome to find out that SNPP7 also afforded the same WiFi scope control capability from my MacBook Pro, and not through just a 3rd-party WiFi adapter that still required cables (i.e., your "SkyFi" hardware product) but direct support for the Celestron SkyQ Link, just as your iOS SkySafari solution does. Is this capability built into SNPP7 (Mac) and I just have not yet found it discussed or documented anywhere? If not, is this being actively developed? Thank you for your support.

I have the exact same issue and am massively disappointed to spend $70 only to find that my Mac OSX version of SkySafari4 will not communicate with the SkyQ Link 2 on my Celestron Advanced VX Mount. I foolishly assumed that because the IOS versions worked, that I, by spending the money, could easily move the functionality to my laptop (MacBook Air OSX 10.6.8). Apparently this is not so. SkySafari tells me it can connect to the Telescope, but that it is not responding.

Is there a solution for this ?

I have a similar issue, except with SkySafari 4 Plus on Mac OSX. I can connect, but not communicate with the SkyQ Link 2 on my Celestron Advanced VX Mount. SkySafari works fine on all of my IOS devices, but not on the MacBook.

    Hi Robert,

We have not implemented support for the SkyQ Link in the Mac SkySafari product. It is not clear when (if ever) we will do that. That Celestron integration was paid for by Celestron and they have not asked for a Mac version.

Starry Night 7 on Mac OSX uses the same telescope support protocols available for SkySafari 4 on OSX.
