Every time I try to update data files the application freezes it's even frozen when I try to restart it, I can see the box that opens up just the outline when you update data files and it's frozen. To open up Starry Night again I have to delete my preferences folder re enter my serial and then it works again as long as I don't click on update data files. I have Windows 10 running the most recent Nvidia Drivers which are open GL compatible. You would think for the money that this software costs that problems like this wouldn't be happening. I'm not running anything exotic here.

Keiron Smith Hi Rusty,
Please delete the current app, and reinstall from your download links. You're correct, this shouldn't be happening, and it's unacceptable. So, I will help you resolve the issue. Let's start with the re-install.
Please review this KB article:
Be sure you aren't modifying the main app - otherwise the updater will break.
You can get your download links here:

Thanks!

Rusty Shackleford Thanks for your quick response, I tried what you advised and it still froze so then i thought about anything that I had installed recently and I had installed WindowsFX from Stardock a while back which is just a silly program that adds fun animations to all of Window's events, when I disabled WindowsFX and tried Starry Night Pro again it worked fine. Sorry taking your time for something I should have been able to figure out. Problem solved. Starry Night Pro is a wonderful program for amateur astronomers like myself and I'm up and running again. Thanks again for your quick response.
