SkySafari6 MacOS Meade Serial can't connect

I'm running SkySafari 6 Plus, MacOS 12.7.4, Prolific USB to Serial adapter, and Meade LX200 GPS.

ScopeType is Meade LX200 GPS/ACF, LX600. MountType is Equatorial Goto (Fork)

Connection is usbserial-1410.

I get the popup window: Connection Failure. scope is not responding...

BUT: if I unplug the USB serial adapter from the Mac, and plug it into a Win10 computer, it works with no problems.

Any suggestions?

Update:

Doesn't work with any of my Meade scopes - 497 Autostar, LX200 Classic, or LX200 GPS.

Also doesn't work with NGCMax digital setting circles.

However, I used the"screen" command from the console in OSX to talk to the NGCMax with no problems.

So it's not a hardware problem, or an OSX problem.

What do I need to do folks?

Using MacOS, SkySafari is not receiving data.

This could be because:
1. Scope is not aligned. Align before trying to connect.
2. USB cable does not transmit data. Not all cables are made equal - but you say it works on PC, but does it work to control the scope from a PC?
3. USB driver is not compatible. This is probably the origin of the issue.
4. ScopeType is incorrect - even though you say you have selected the correct one, try the other Meade options.

What specifically is the Prolific USB to Serial adapter? Please attach a photo.

1) Scope is aligned. It's in polar mode and starts up in 'polar aligned' mode - 0 hour angle, 0 declination. With time and date, it knows where it is.

2) USB to serial cables work on the PC to control the telescope, another one controls a Robofocus. As mentioned earlier, the USB cables work on a Mac, using the screen command, to talk to an NGCMax with no problems. The cables work.

3) The driver was automatically installed by MacOS. Didn't have to do anything.

4) tried both LX200 classic and LX200 GPS with the big scopes - no luck. Tried LX200 Classic and DS2000 with the Autostar 497 - no luck. Tried NGCMax - no luck.

Update for NGCMax.

We can't use "Get Automatically" with the NGCMax - it has no such command. We have to type in the encoder ticks manually. We also can't leave them blank or 0. All of these will produce the response below. This is the same response I get from the Meade scopes (will get those screen caps later).

So remember to type in the encoder ticks manually. That solves the NGCMax problem :)

ps: I have SkySafari for iOS, but no way to connect it to the telescopes, so can't confirm anything there.

To be clear here:

SS6 Pro on MacOS successfully connects to, and controls, your NGCMax - but not the LX200 GPS?

Using the same USB cable for both mounts?

Correct. Same USB-to-serial adapter (but I've also tried 2 others).

Same results on Mac mini running Monterey, and an iMac running Catalina. Only the NGCMax works.

note: All 3 adapters work on Win10 with CdC and Ascom, on both LX200 scopes and a Robofocus (in any combination).
