How To Change The Light Time Setting? (Can Anyone Else Reproduce This Issue?)

I'm using SS7 Pro. The "Light Time" setting has long been my nemesis with SS: Why would I ever NOT want this box checked? We see the cosmos based on where we are. Especially, having this setting OFF creates disagreements between the listed timing of planet/moon events and their animations.

Well, SS7 appears to always reset Light Time to OFF - why? How can I force this to stay ON? Thank you

    Dan,

Please confirm after making changes to the Settings that you are using the back button and not the [X] in the top right to exit.

If you still think there is an issue please share a short screen recording.

    Thanks!

Thank you for your reply, Keiron.

On the iOS app under the Precession Settings, there is no back button; there is only an [x] upper right.

I should have been more clear in my wording: setting the Light Time to On will stick temporarily, but something causes it to reset to OFF and this is unpredictable to me. (Why is ON not the default, by the way?). I have not noticed this problem with any other settings.

    Dan,

See below, the back arrow.  You don't see that?  Please attach a screenshot.  You can't save settings with the [X].  Thanks!

On the iPad, there is no back button; the left side of the screen is the full Settings menu.

I see.  But, can't reproduce this issue.

Bugs, like the one you are reporting, are 99% reproducible - meaning there is a sequence of actions that lead to the bug.  And, following that sequence the bug can be reproduced.  Without a sequence of actions developers cannot fix anything.  It is highly unlikely that the Light Time setting just randomly changes itself.

So, please keep an eye on this issue and see if you can discern a path to reproduction.

You should be able to set it and forget it.  If you want it on, turn it on, leave it on.  And vice versa.

The Light Time option is available for those using our apps for research that want to know where objects actually are, as opposed to where they appear to be.

    Thanks!

This continues to be a problem, by the way. I would not label this as answered.

Dan, the label has been removed.

Please attach screenshots from your iOS and iPadOS Precession settings.  And please provide the following:

    1. App and version.  See Help > scroll to the bottom
    2. OS version(s)
    3. Device(s) make and model

    Thanks!

    Keiron,

I was looking at this post - https://support.simulationcurriculum.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/23492008797975/comments/27094759022231

    Edited to make clear.

When I look at the other menu options I don't see the back arrow on those either so my reply and test was flawed. I didn't go back far enough to find the original post.  I did not realize that Dan was saying that the Light Time button was not staying on.

    I ran the following test,

My Light Time selection button was off.  I turned on the Light Time and closed the Procession menu by pressing the x.  Then I opened the Procession menu and the Light Time switch was still on.  I closed SS7 and reopened.  Opened the Procession menu and the Light Time button is still on.

So if I understand the original reported issue I can not replicate it.

    iPad Air M2 - iOS 17.7 - SS7 7.5.0 (1117)

It's the same one that you replied to.

I cleaned up my post above.  It might make some sense now.
