How Come Sky Calendar And What's New Stopped Working? (Answer: Read On!)

Serious problems today with a copy of Starry Night CSAP 8 (for Mac OS; first purchased on Dec. 5th).  First noticed that when I click on 'What's New ...', the popup comes up briefly, and then abruptly vanishes (now it won't appear at all, at time of writing). When I try clicking on Sky Calendar, nothing happens, and then the other options (like the guided tours in the left side bar) also become unresponsive; they will work if you leave Sky Calendar alone, as if attempting to launch the latter causes the program to freeze up.  Rebooted my computer multiple times, then tried twice to delete the whole app and install it fresh, hoping to overwrite the bug.  This did nothing at all.  Finally restored the software to factory defaults, but this doesn't work either.

    I was wrong about the guided tours - those don't work either. Clicking on a link brings up the list of tour chapters ('Introduction', etc.), but these do not bring up any content. Is the website down, maybe? Because I got no message concerning this; large parts of the app simply aren't working as they should, after only 8 days.

    Hi Steve,

    I had a similar problem with SN8 Pro. The instructions in the post below solved the problem. In my case the Sky Guide was blank, but the What's New.. popup worked. You might have a completely different problem, but this might be worth a go.
