SkySafari 6 Pro | How To Get Started As A Beginner? User Guide / Tutorials / Videos?

I have virtually ZERO astronomy knowledge, I just like to look up at the sky and identifies stars/planets/galaxies just for fun. I looked in the online help topics, they are far too detailed for me, no clue to what 70 % of the words they use mean.  I need a basic manual on how to use SSP6 (iOS) with legends. What do ovals, doted lines, solid lines around blobs or big squares around stars groupings represent/indicate? Where do I find this information? I would love to shut off the square, especially when you magnify (very distracting when all you see is white squares every where). I dont know what the white squares are so I cant look up how to turn them off?

Is there a graphic visual manual that shows, step by step, how to use SFP6 & what all the icons & symbols represent?

Is SkySafari Pro 6 too advanced for a firs time user?

Thanks!

    Hi Bela--

Aside from the very detailed manual, the best way to learn SkySafari is to play around w/ settings and see what each change does.  Here are a few tutorial videos I found that might be helpful for a beginner:

Although these are for SkySafari 5, they will likely be relevant to SS6.  As for your question about whether or not Pro is too advanced, I would say no.  Pro is really just more objects and stars, with a few added features, but the software is no harder to use than the basic and plus versions.  If you're getting too many objects showing, go to Settings and Deep Sky and try selecting Best-Known only, or decreasing the Magnitude Limit to a smaller number.  Hope this helps!
