Astro Devices BETI + SkySafari = Crosshairs Move In Opposite Direction To Scope (Answer: SkySafari Chart Is Flipped Horizontally)

using Astro Devices BETI  (bluetooth enabled telescope interface) with SF5plus. Alt-Az Push to."get data automatically" turned off, as per instructions for this unit.Used with Nexus7 Android Tablet. Has been functioning very well, and pleased  BUT this startup the Telescope Cursor on SF moves opposite to telescope movement in Azmith -- this inspite of changing the + or - in front of encoder tics, and "entering" changes.. IE changing sign has NO effect. Last evening both axes were doing this, but now only the Azmith.

When opening SF5plus, the Cursor appears in the South field, and shows above problem - rotating to North the Azmith problem is still there.I have checked your set up menu several times, switched out and shut down program and Tablet many times, and re booted -- all to no avail.

Grateful for any help, as this is a great program. Thank you, Stewart Longly, Napier, New Zealand.

What kind of scope are you controlling?  This does not sound like a SkySafari problem but is most likely related to the BETI setup or the scope.

Hi Bill, thank you for reply. I am using a simple Dobson scope, alt/az mount. I have tested encoders by plugging into my Nexus DSC, and encoders are ok.

If you feel I have done set up right from previous email description,I will contact Serge at Astro Devices. The odd thing is the whole system was going very well.

I am trying to determine if the fault is with :- my set up of SF ( appears to be all ok)

                                                                         my Nexus7 Pad

                                                                         or Astro Devices BETI

Thank you for help, kind regards, Stewart Longly.

I'm not terribly familiar with the Nexus system.  I would ask Serge about it.  I'm a bit surprised that changing the sign on the encoder step per revolution didn't have an affect.

The only other things I can think of is that you have the chart flipped horizontally in the Settings > Coordinates screen.  This would make it appear to be going the wrong way.

KNOWThank you Bill ! That makes sense!! I did NOT KNOW that chart could be flipped horizontally.I,ll go into settings and check it out. Is there a reference to how to flip screen in your SF data page anywhere, as I don,t think I noticed it.

Great help Bill, thank you very much again, sorry to worry you, I know your very busy from the "Forums"". Kind regards and a good New Year to You! Stewart Longly.

Hi Bill, as advised checked coordinates and OK. But coordinates set to "Horizon" is this whats needed for  simple Dobson "push to' ? or should it be "equatorial"?

Also "chart centre coordinates are -AZ- 010deg 52min 6sec

                                                            alt-+21deg etc etc

I am not sure what this is about! Is it  reading  my telescope pointing position  as I move atound Sky?

    Kind regards Stewart Longly.

Have you read through the help?  Much of this is explained.  When controlling a scope you what the chart coordinate system to be Horizon (a.k.a Alt/Az).  The Equatorial chart is like printed charts and won't show the horizon.

The Chart Center coordinates is just what it says: the coordinates of the center of the chart.  As you pan around you will see it change.  If you are connected to a scope and you have the chart "Locked" to the scope's position then the chart (and center coordinates) will move as you push the scope around.
