Starry Night Pro 7 | ASCOM Driver Error With Meade LX-850 (Solved: UAC Settings Must Be “Never Notify”)

I am having trouble getting my new LX-850 to work with SN Pro7.   I have ASCOM 6.3 and even got the additional driver for the LX-850 from the ASCOM website.  However, I can never get the  Meade Autostar II driver to appear in the pulldown elevator when selecting your scope.  Attached is a screenshot showing the only selections I get and the error message

Can someone point me in the right direction on where to look, or.....

Many thanks,

Mike

    Hi Michael,

I would try uninstalling and reinstalling the Ascom software.  Make sure you install the latest from here: http://ascom-standards.org/index.htm

Uninstall and reinstall the Meade Ascom driver too.

If that doesn't work please also post in the Ascom Talks yahoo group asking for assistance.

Unfortunately, I can not help with the error message as it is coming for the Ascom driver code - and it is not code we write or are responsible for.

Please update this post with your progress.

    Thanks!

    Hi Keiron,

Quick update.  Looks like I finally fixed the issue!!!!!  As an FYI should anyone contact you in the future, the error appears to be generated by Windows 7 security.  When I moved the UAC settings elevator slider down to the “Never Notify” position (shown with the red arrow), the laptop reboots, after which you can run the setup programs in any of the software packakges (I tried it with Autostar Suite, Starry Night 7 and Stallarium 0.18 and the Ascom driver error notification goes away and you can now configure the scope/mount with the “Universal Meade Telescope” driver.

Its so nice to be able to select the driver, click “Properties” and have the Ascom  “Choose Com Port” dialog box appear instead of the above posted error message! :-)
