Starry Night Celestron SE Is Equivalent To Starry Night CSAP + Telescope Control, And About Events

Hi there.  I have the Starry Nights Celestron 7.6.3.1377 keEW for Windows.

In the feature comparison chart, what version does this correspond to?

Also, when I view events, it's only showing the moon and venus, not any of the other planets like mars that rises tonight.   The manual talks about using "advanced find" to set up the events, but there is no such thing that I can find in the program.

Help!

    Hi James,

Starry Night Celestron SE is equivalent to Starry Night CSAP + telescope control.

The Events finder dynamically generates a listing of moon phases, eclipses, Jupiter satellite events, meteor showers and planetary phenomenon such as conjunctions, elongations and oppositions to name but a few of the events that can be displayed.  If you skip forwards/backwards in time you will see it populate with other events too.

Advanced Find is only available in Starry Night Pro 7 and Pro Plus 7.  The User Guide is not always clear about whether the features/function discussed is included in SN Celestron SE.  Apologies for that.

    Hi.  On this page: https://store.simulationcurriculum.com/collections/software/products/starry-night-complete-space-astronomy-pack-version-7

It says that version has "Today’s Sky feature highlights major celestial events."

Where can I find that feature?  I can't find it.

    Hi James,

I believe that is referring to the "Events" tab we discussed previously.

Well, the events summary is broken.  It shows a selection of events, like venus rising/setting, but it totally does  NOT list Jupiter transit events, for example.  If i search for jupiter, hover my mouse, and select "events" then a ton of jupiter transit events show up.  But they don't show up in the events summary.   Is there a way to change what it's choosing to show me?  Because what it's choosing to show me is so limited as to be pretty useless.

    Hi James,

I can see about including more events in the Celestron SE version.  In Starry Night Pro and Pro Plus, there is an Advanced Find feature that allows one to find all the events you seek.

    Thank you for your feedback.

Ok, well, please update this thread if there's going to be an update to fix this.  Until then I'm likely to use other tools and won't notice an update.
