I have a notification alert that I can’t find in the app itself. Otherwise it sits there with a constant 1 alert. Anyone else having this issue?

Are you saying at the SkySafari icon is "badged" with the number "1", and after launching the app it doesn't go away? We always clear the icon badging every time you launch the app. You shouldn't need to do anything else.
Have you tried rebooting the device? It may be in some strange state that is preventing the badging from going away.
