Action taken: I had to manually kill the app from the memory to stop the loop.
This is working as it should for me.

I need some more information on this. It is highly unlikely this has to do with your specific device to version of Android.
Did you have internet access at the time? I suspect it was trying to retrieve the list of pre-defined equipment and something went wrong. I have dealt with the case where there is no internet access but possibly something more subtle is happening.
Were you connected to something like SkyFi o SkyBT at the time?
We did discover a bug that can cause this if you have turned off "Backup to LiveSky" in the Storage settings. This will be fixed in the next release (in a few hours). However, you will still get a blank list of pre-defined equipment. These need to be pulled from the server and that won't happen if you are not backing up.
