That is definitely not supposed to happen. We have tested without an internet connection many times and haven't had a problem. You will not get the list of pre-defined equipment when adding equipment, but you should see everything you have defined (observing lists, added equipment, settings files).
Are you using a registered LiveSky account or are you using the anonymous account you get when you first install the app?
Bill, thanks. It is a registered & email verified account. I think I have isolated it to (and can replicate) -
* Full data/not airplane mode
* Start SkySafari
* Put in airplane mode (to simulate loss of data connection in the field)
* Swipe away SkySafari (or minimize and remove from past apps - anything but exit normally - to simulate changing apps and then killing the app without exiting properly)
* Restart SkySafari
* None of my observing lists, added equipment, etc. show up
* Exit SkySafari normally
* Restart Sky Safari, still no observing lists, etc.
* Turn off airplane mode
* Observing lists, custom FOV etc. show up almost immediately (probably sync'd with LiveSky).
* Exit SkySafari normally
* Airplane mode on
* Observing lists, etc. work fine.
Basically if SkySafari is killed (not exited) while in airplane mode/no data connection, then the next time it starts in airplane mode/no data connection there is no local observing lists, etc. If the app is exited properly, the problem doesn't seem to exist.
thx
Mike
Mike - I'm not seeing this behaviour at all. I've tried replicating your steps exactly, and all of my lists, custom views, etc are accessible at all times.
I'm running SkySafari Pro 6.0.0.22 (and now 6.0.0.23) on Android 8.1.0 on a Nokia 6.1 phone.
Julian, I just upgraded to 6.0.0.23 and did a fresh reboot, Android 8.1.0 on a OnePlus 6 phone and can still replicate the problem. I know the workaround, so no major issue. Maybe I am the only one.
Hi Mike,
What specifically so you mean by:
Swipe away SkySafari (or minimize and remove from past apps - anything but exit normally - to simulate changing apps and then killing the app without exiting properly)
And...
Exit SkySafari normally
I don't understand what a normal app exit is vs any other exit.
Thanks!
By normal do you mean pressing the Android "Back" button -> then press "Exit"?
Mike, if you have an extra phone/tablet, can you please make a video of this for us. Thanks!
