SkySafari 6 Pro | Extreme Slow Download To iPad (iOS 11.4.1)

Hi all,

I’ve really enjoyed Sky Safari Pro in my Apple iPad and iPhone, don’t need to use paper star atlases for my telescope viewing anymore, especially love zooming in to an NGC object and seeing the photograph.  

I just bought an iPhone 6S, and started the Sky Safari 6 Pro download on it last night. As of this morning, the download is only about 20% complete. Do any of the Sky Safari 6 Pro iOS users have very slow download problems with certain internet providers? I’m using T-Mobile 4G with video streaming capability, and made sure that my iPad settings allow using cellular data for download (vs Wi-Fi).

Anything else I should try to remove this download hangup? I don’t have broadband or other cable Internet at home, just the 4G on my iPad and iPhone.

  Hi, 

  I would suggest you consider downloading only over WiFi.  The SS6 Pro is about 1.3GB and downloading such a large file can be throttled either:

  1. By you ISP

  2. In the iOS settings.

  I think if you go to a WiFi hotspot, somewhere like Starbucks, the download will complete in 2-3 minutes.
