Problem with telescope display fields of view equipment

Recently I've found that I can't change the camera on various entries.  The entries are in the box labeled fields of view.   It includes various combinations of telescopes, eyepieces, Barlows and cameras to allow seeing a visual of the selected field of view on the map.

The issue I've found is that I would select one of my entries to edit, say 140 f/7 telescope, rebel t3i camera and qtcc and I'd change the camera to another, say 6D or ATIK, and the press ok, and get various behaviors, none of which is correct.     The window comes up with nothing listed in the camera line (zippo) but it does show a camera and window on the screen.    Sometimes it comes up with a different camera than the one selected, sometimes it comes up with an eyepiece instead of a camera.    So this used to work perfectly, but something has changed to cause corruption.     I've tried various combinations but find no pattern, other than if I pick an eyepiece instead of a camera, the eyepiece seems to enter correctly, but selecting a camera can result in another camera, and 'none' listed in the entry.

    Theresamarie11,

I'm not sure what is happening for you.  I haven't gotten other reports of this behavior.  Could you attach a couple of screen shots showing what is happening?

OK, we cloned your data (with your permission) so we could play with it.  I was able to reproduce your problem.  After several hours I finally figured out what was happening.

You have the same eyepiece (Explore Scientific 82º 6.7) added twice to your equipment.  Under normal circumstances that should be fine.  However on Mac, the popup button we use doesn't allow you to add the same title twice.  If you try to do so it will either ignore the second one or sometimes remove the first occurrence and add the second at the end of the list.

This causes our list of eyepieces in the popup to be out of sync with our list of them in memory.  Hilarity ensues.

I have changed our code to allow adding the same string multiple times.  However, in the meantime, you should be able to solve your problem by just deleting the second occurrence of this eyepiece in your equipment list.

Sorry for the grief.  This was a weird one.

The fix will be in our next release.

Bill, thank you for finding this!     And it was so easy to fix, on my side.   I just tried it out and presto, it's working correctly!       I would have guessed, not knowing anything about your system that if an index was messed up I'd just get the preceding or following entry, and not the crazy and random functionality that it exhibited!       Although I have to say that I like your description better: "hilarity ensues".

Also, thank you for adding the 'don't show me this again' on the pop add-on ads.     You guys are updating, for $$, pretty frequently... and more than any other app I currently own..so adding what seemed like very frequent popups seemed a bit much.   Thanks for listening!

Glad that fixed it for you.

I will pass along your thanks for the "don't show again" to marketing.  I have nothing to do with this and I don't really know how they did it.
