Sky safari 6 pro crashes when entering galaxy view

Samsung galaxy s6 edge, android 7.0, latest sky safari 6 pro.

Crashes 100% of the time entering galaxy view. This is frustrating as it's one of the reasons I bought pro vs plus, and it's right next to the 'description' icon so very easy to hit (and crash) by mistake.

    Peter,

    I'm wondering you are getting an out of memory error.  After the crash, could you restart and go to Help > Emal Log File.  Send the log file to yourself and then email it to me with a note that this is from a crash using Galaxy View.

    Also include your device type.

    I'll email the full log later but it's this:

    java.lang.RuntimeException: Canvas: trying to draw too large(125440000bytes) bitmap.
    at android.view.DisplayListCanvas.throwIfCannotDraw(DisplayListCanvas.java:260)
    at android.graphics.Canvas.drawBitmap(Canvas.java:1420)
    at com.simulationcurriculum.skysafari.GalaxyView.drawGalaxyImage(GalaxyView.java:177)
    at com.simulationcurriculum.skysafari.GalaxyView.onDraw(GalaxyView.java:374)

    It's a Samsung galaxy s6 edge. I've tested it on a low-spec tablet with a lower display resolution and there's no crash there.

    Interesting.  I remember having a similar problem when SkySafari 5 came out with this feature.  I haven't seen this in a long time.  To my knowledge nothing has changed ing the Galaxy View code that could make this worse than in SkySafari 5.

    Were you a SkySafari 5 user?  Did it work there on this device?

    Only ever had the free version of SS5 so never tried in in galaxy view. Happy to test it if can give me a download code?

    Your StackOverflow link is interesting.  I wouldn't think that would make a difference but stranger things have happened.

    You are obviously somewhat technical.  If I email you a link to a new signed APK with this fix, can you install it and see if it fixes the crash?

    If so, please send me an email with your email address.  I don't want to put the link to the new version in a public forum.

    Thanks Bill, email sent. I'm a desktop application developer by trade, never installed an apk on android but I will work it out and let you know how I get on. Thanks.

    Has anything been determined from this, I am having the same issue on my Samsung Galaxy S8 running SkySafari 6 Pro.

    Yes, this has hopefully been fixed.  We are going to release a new version later today.
