On my iPad, when an observation list is highlighted, and the AR button is shown because SS6 believes I might want to switch on AR, it is shown almost on top of the observation list button. The AR button wins if you press the area.

Thanks, we will try to resolve this. At least it is the AR button that wins. You probably don't want to look at your observing list while in compass mode.
You are right, although it is not as simple as that: if you accidentally activate compass mode, you can normally just put down the iPad, or put your finger on the screen to make the display stop following the movements, but the AR button apparently never disappear.
Are you sure about this? The AR button always disappears when I touch the screen to stop compass mode.
No, you are right, the AR button disappears when the screen is touched. I don't know what happened to me the other night, when I fumbled with this, and I could not get the AR button to disappear. I was sitting in a deck chair, and Compass Mode activated when I tried to read the screen. I got rid of it - twice - by clearing SkySafari from memory. I also had the scope control working. At the time it was the AR button, not Compass Mode as such, that I saw as a problem, and I searched for a way to remove AR without removing Compass Mode.
Eventually I found out that the button was linked to Compass Mode, and when I looked up at the sky, clouds had rolled in to cover everything in a few minutes, so I was wasn't in a good mood. Thinking of it now, in the stressed situation I was in, I probably tilted the screen too much all the time, which was why Compass Mode and the AR button did not go away.
