SkySafari 6 Status Bar

The following appears in the SkySafari 6 manual under 'Slewing and Aligning':

"Once your telescope is connected, arrow buttons appear on the sides of the screen...The status bar expands to show the scope's coordinates and target object."

That does not happen.  What does happen is that the target name and description appears momentarily then reverts to the location, date, and time.

I always use the 'Target' feature to park my scope with SkySafari 5 by tapping 'Target' and entering alt-az coordinates.  The status bar Target changes to 'Chart Center' and I slew the scope to the desired location using the GOTO button.

How do I accomplish this with SkySafari 6?

Thanks!

    Don,

Looks like we need to update the Help.  That "extended status bar" is not present in SkySafari 6.  We removed it to save screen real estate.

It is still possible to do a GoTo RA/Dec, but I don't think it is possible to go to an Alt/Az anymore.  If you tap the 3 vertical dots in the right of the scope control panel you will get a panel where you can GoTo an RA/Dec.  It also shows you the current RA/Dec of the scope.  I suppose I could put a switch in that panel to toggle between Alt/Az and RA/Dec.  I didn't realize that anyone was doing that.  This iOS version has been out for 9 months and no one has mentioned missing this.  I can add it to my list.

    Thanks Bill,

A toggle to switch between GOTO  Alt-Az and RA-Dec would be perfect.

I saw the GOTO RA-Dec feature on the telescope control panel but unfortunately that doesn't help.   I have a work around in the interim though.  I can disconnect from SkySafari and go to a saved "Land Object" using the scope's hand control.  Not the 'elegant' solution, but workable!
