[Bug] Galaxy View Fails In Orbit Mode

Hi!

I love your app, was using SS5 Pro for a while and am very happy with SS6 as well!

I found a common issue in SS5 Pro and SS6 Pro. If you tap on a star and go to Galaxy view, you can see the Sun and that star correctly positioned. However if you orbit that star and open Galaxy View from there, the Sun and the star you are orbiting around are at the same place (the place of the star). Maybe the app incorrectly maps not the Sun's position but yours (which is 100 AU away from the star).

Can you confirm if it is a bug or I am wrong?

Thanks for checking!

PS: that HR diagram is simply awesome! And I like the new 'show path' option too! And..., ... :)

Yes, this is probably a bug.  You should probably not be able to go to Galaxy View while in Orbit mode.  I can make that change.

Glad you like the H-R diagram.  The "Show Selected Object Path" (I assume that is what you mean) is not new and  has been in SkySafari for many years.

    Dear Bill,

thanks for the reply! Gosh, I never realized that path option was in the SS5 - maybe I found that in SS6 just because it was enabled by default. :)

If it would be possible I would love having Galaxy view when orbiting - I hope that bug can be corrected in this way too. I love star-hopping, I mean I select a star, orbit it, then select a second star from there, then go orbiting that one and so on. It is very instructive to learn which famous stars are close to each other in the real space and which is where in the Milky Way... and it's simply awesome to view the stars moving when you are 'traveling' to the new orbit target.

I know that you highlighted several times that SS is mainly an observer tool, not an educational one. But I find every time something new to learn or to marvel at. Your app is a great instrument to know how magnificient the Universe is. Sorry for being offtopic :)

    All the best!
