Why is UCAC5 Star Database Extension Missing, And Gaia Catalog Temporarily Accessible? (New Version Update Coming ASAP)

I have SkySafari Pro for iOS. I purchased the UCAC5 Star Database Extension, the PGC extension database and the Interactive H-R diagram.

I don't know what happened but the UCAC5 Star Database Extension despaired from my In-App purchases screen. I can see the other two, but the UCAC5 Star Database Extension is not there anymore. Even if I tap the Restore purchases I can't see it coming back.

Did I missed something ? Have the UCAC5 Star Database Extension been removed ?

    I’m having the same problem. The Android version of SkySafari Pro 6 just went through an update where the UCAC5 database was replaced with the GAIA extension database. I’m guessing that the link for this update was not included/enabled with the IOS update. Hopefully the team at Simulation Curriculum will fix this soon!

    On my phone, the UCAC database extension was listed as "GAIA Extension Database" and it too is no longer appearing when I go to the in-app purchases screen.

    We uploaded a new iOS version update (for testing purposes), that included a new version of the GAIA Extension (used to be called UCAC5 Extension) catalog.  Apple rejected the new version update but made the new data live.  Apple should not have gone live with this new catalog data when rejecting the version update.  

    As soon as possible we will upload a new version update, which when approved by Apple, will resolve everything.

    Is the data still there on the phone if it has been installed or has that been removed as well as the link?

    Downloaded the update today..  Is the UCAC5 / GAIA data built into the app. now?  When I go into in-app. purchases only "Interactive H-R Diagram" and "PGC Extension Database" are listed still...

     

    Tried completely removing SS6 Pro., rebooting the phone and reinstalling it.  Still just those two appearing in in-app. purchases.

    Also, hitting "Restore Purchases" does nothing now.  I had to go through the purchase process again where it would prompt if I'd like to download the add-in for free since I had purchased it already...

    Ok so it looks like the "Restore Purchases" button did work, though the function was delayed a couple of hours.  I opened SS6 Pro. again a little bit ago and got a notice that the "PGC Extension Database" had installed.  This was AFTER I had installed it a few hours ago by hitting the purchase link next to it.

    Update; The "GAIA Extension Database" finally showed up half an hour ago and fully installed.  Has the the word "Purchased" next to it.

    I also got the update that apparently fixed this issue, but I'm confused. During this update it downloaded this star database, but never indicated that it was installed. Previously, it downloaded the data and then installed it. Confirmation was given by way of  status change from "Purchased" to "Installed". The data seems to be there. Quickly looking at a few areas I found stars with an apparent magnitude of 16.8. What magnitudes does this star database cover? Personally I feel that any any purchased extensions should indicate a confirmation of proper installation via the status change to "Installed".

    Mine doesn't say "Installed" next to it either.  Just shows in grey text, the word "Purchased".

    We need to figure this out.  Apple's process for updating to a new version of the in-app purchase data is somewhat screwed up.  I was out the past week and someone else was supposed to make sure this all worked.  Looks like it is not quite working.

    The button should say "Installed" if the correct file was detected. It will say "Purchased" if the the in-app has been purchased but the file is not detected.  In that case you would need to do a "Restore Purchases" to get it (which doesn't seem to work).

    If you tap the "Restore Purchases", does anything get downloaded for the GAIA data?  You should see a progress bar if it is downloading.

    I have used the "Restore Purchases" twice since the update. On both occasions I got confirmation that the databases were downloaded, but only the Deep Sky database indicated that it was installed. the Star database status remained at "Purchased".

    So I started over again today.  After getting back into the In-App Purchases section, I hit "Restore Purchases".

    Interactive H-R Diagram immediately showed "Purchased" next to it in grey text

    PGC Extension Database showed a download progress bar beneath and when that completed "Installed" next to it in grey text

    GAIA Extension Database showed a download progress bar beneath and when that completed "Purchased" next to it in grey text

    We still haven't worked this out with Apple.  Sorry.

    To date, this is where we are at - this is a UI issue at the moment.

    1. Restore Purchases.
    2. SkySafari will crash (in Apple’s code) after restoring purchases.
    3. Restart.
    4. SkySafari will say Gaia "Purchased", but does not say Installed.
    5. Search for and find Gaia stars fainter than 15th magnitude.  You have them.

    We will fix this in an update (coming in the next couple of days) so that restoring the Gaia in-app purchase does not crash and also so it says "Installed" when purchased and installed.

    The problem here is with Apple code.

    Owen,

    As far as we are aware, all problems with the current release are cosmetic.  The In-App Purchases screen says the database is "Purchased" but not "Installed" even though it is.

    Use iTunes File Sharing to look at SkySafari 6 Pro's Documents directory.  If you see a file in there called GAIAStars2.skydat then you should have everything.  If that file is not present, try "Restore Purchases".  You should see a progress bar as the GAIA stars are downloaded.  You might get a crash at the end to the process.  I am working with Apple to figure that out.  Despite the crash, the download will successfully complete and SkySafari will use the data when restarted.

    Thanks Bill. I do have that file and I managed to find some 16th mag stars so I guess all is good. I did see the progress bar and the crash :-) when I downloaded the last time - and we all thought Apple was perfect :-) Now Windows does not seem so bad.
