SkySafari 6 Pro Works Great On Lenovo Tab 4 Plus

Hi

I have been running SkySafari 6 Pro on my Lenovo Tab4 Plus (10.1") and it works really great!

Android version 7.1.1.

Lenovo designation TB-X704L.

I have been using it with SkyFi 3 and my old Celestron GP-C8 (now on a Celestron AVX mount

with StarSense).

    Hi

I do not think the Lenovo has a compass or gyroscope. As I have never been interested in this functionality the tablet worked fine for me.
As I am very familiar with the night sky I was perfectly satisfied with a "stationary" sky chart on the tablet.

I used the tablet with SkyFi 3 to  a wireless control of my Celestron AVX mount. This worked perfectly.

Now as I am mostly interested in astrophotography I only use the tablet with SkySafari 6 Pro to plan my photo sessions.
The software is perfect to find a good framing of my objects. The tablet is no longer used to control the mount or used
    during my photo sessions.

Ah okay i see, understood, but personally i like to have all the options, not to use them after.

If you do not use your tablet anymore what software you use instead? Laptop?

Thanks for your fast reply and useful comments ;-)

    Hi

I am still using my tablet during the planning phase. SkySafari 6 Pro has a fantastic object database and it is very

easy to use when planning the photo sessions to get the best framing.

Also I have not permanently finished my visual astronomy, When I really want to sit out during the night

and look att objects through my eyepiece I will use my Lenovo tablet with SkyFi 3 to control my Celestron AVX mount,

A bit offtopic as I mentioned I am now mostly capturing deep sky images.

Presently I am using APT (AstroPhotography Tool) on a HP Laptop (and of course PHD2 for guiding).

I find the platesolving in APT to be a fantastic tool to center dim deepsky objects.

On the laptop I am running Cartes du Ciel as planetary program as my laptop is too old to run the more

    demanding Stellarium program.

When I have found the object and manually focused with a bahtinov mask I can go inside and remotely

control the session via TeamViewer from my desktop.

If I want to continue with more automated sessions in the future perhaps SGP (Sequence Generator Pro) or the

relatively new freeware NINA will be more suitable.

Okay interesting workflow, but in term of gadgets with sky safari 6 the accelerometer is enough if you know the sky quite well, you do not need the compass, right?

Do you have a website for your images?

I'm a beginner in astrophotography (recently buyed a skywatcher star adventurer pro) and will using ss6 for preparing my sessions too, and in a futur control my celestron nexstar 5se

    Hi

I do not need any accelerometer, gyro or compass in my tablet.

I have no website for astrophotos. I am still rather new to astrophotography and even if I sometimes

get very good images (according to me) it will be some time until I am prepared to

    go public with my images.
