SkySafari 6 Plus + Celestron GT + Celestron WiFi Adapter = Slow Responses (Solution: Replaced Celestron WiFi Adapter And New One Works Properly)

I'm using SS6 plus on my ipad mini with IOS12.1. I am able to connect with my Celestron GOTO GT mount through the SkyPortal WIFI adapter and Access Point configuration. With only the app running, I have a delay of about 15 sec. for any button I press on the screen. Also, I am not able to change any of the app settings while connected. I get no response when I touch the on/off buttons. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?  Thanks.

    Hi Bruce,

Do you have another iDevice to test with, see if the issue is reproducible.

    Thanks!

    Keiron,

I've tried with my ipad and with my iphone. I get the same delay problem.

    Here's what I've tried:

-Forgot all other wifi signals on the ipad. Just connected to SkyQ35

-I went through all the Wifi troubleshooting steps listed on the Celestron website.  I tried to connect through access point but it never connected.

    - Same thing happened with SkyPortal App.

Is there a way to connect with a wired adapter?

    Bruce,

The baseline requirement for Celestron support in SkySafari 4/5/6 is Celestron firmware version 4.0 or higher.

What firmware is in your HC?

If your HC has a RS232 port you could connect via our SkyWire.

Also, if you have a friend with a another different Celestron WiFi adapter you would do well to borrow and test with that.  I think this is a hardware issue.

How can this be hardware related if the SkySafari app works great when not wifi connected. Reading posts in Cloudy Nights forum suggests that this is a common problem.

    I have firmware version HC5.29.7137

    MC 5.21

Unfortunately, no one to swap adapters.

The problem occurs when you connect to Celestron WiFi Adapter <- this is the hardware I think is at issue.

    Should I talk to Celstron?

Yes, I think you should swap it if you can.

Seems you were correct. The replacement unit works much better. No delays so far. Thanks.

    Keiron,

Though there are no delays in the software, I tried to align my scope this weekend and had no luck. I tried Connect and Align. I moved to 3  stars and then it said alignment failed. Twice. I selected Mars on the screen and press align after it was centered in the eyepiece. Gave me "align success" but when I hit goto something else it panned in the wrong direction. I found the software Bullseye located 180 degrees from where my scope was pointing. How do I get the Bullseye moved to my scopes position? Thanks.
