I notice that several other users of Sky Safari have reported that their observations are not being properly recorded in the relevant observing list. I would like to report the same issue. In my case, this problem occurs in roughly 10 percent of the observations I record. About the only pattern I can detect in this problem is that it happens much more frequently with famous objects that have both common names and catalog designations. For example, in a recent project involving emission nebula, the problem arose with the Orion, Lagoon, Eastern Veil, and Cave nebulas, among others. The problem did not occur with emission nebula that were labelled solely with catalog designations.

Bill Tschumy Russell,
Sorry you are having a problem. I assume this is in SkySafari 6 on Mac?
It seem unlikely to me that this problem would be related to the type of object. Can you give me the sequence of events that cause this (I realize it doesn't happen every time, but I need to know the basic workflow.
Is the object already in an observing list when you make the observation? Is that list highlighted? Are you manually choosing the list when editing the observation?

Russell Carpenter Hi Bill,
You get an A Plus for excellent communication!
My situation might be complicated by the fact that I use three Sky Safari products: iOS, Mac OS, and Live Sky. In all cases, the Apple OSs are the latest versions, and the Sky Safari products are also the latest versions. I use Sky Safari 6 Pro for iOS and Mac OS, and Live Sky Premium
I general, I could say that the objects are already in the list when I make the observations and I am manually choosing the list when editing the observations. But why don't you put my comment on hold and let me see if I can reproduce the issue while I am more carefully making notes on the process?
Stand by.

Bill Tschumy Ok, I'll wait for a more detailed description of what you are doing when this happens. Thanks.
