Skysafari Pro 6 Compass problem

Hello,

I have upgraded my phone from a Huawei Mate 10 to a Huawei Mate 20 and have a problem with the compass. I have bought 3 Pro versions of Skysafari with several different phones and it's always worked perfectly. Currently I am running Skysafari Pro 6.

The problem I am having is when I turn on the compass the Horizon on the screen is often 45 degrees to the real horizon. I have checked the phone with other compass etc apps and the phone is working fine.

On rare occasions when I do enable the compass it works correctly. But most of the time it's tilted 45 degrees.

    Hi Charles,

    A couple of things to try:

    1. If you have a magnetic case on the phone, try taking it off.

    2. Try calibrating the phone.  Turn the compass on using the button in the toolbar.  Then turn the phone over along all 3 three axes.  Don't touch the screen while doing this as that turns the compass off.

    3. Try rebooting the device.

    Generally one of those 3 things will solve the problem.

    I have tried all these things. I have used the compass in skysafari many times before. I do know how to calibrate the phone.

    Also. It's only happening with skysafari. First thing I did was check the phone by running other compass apps to make sure its not the phone. The other apps run fine.

    It's only happening to skysafari. And sometimes when I turn your compass mode on it works correctly. When it's not working correctly the horizon is exactly 45 degrees out.

    All the symptoms are pointing towards a skysafari problem.

    One thing I did not mention. The Mate 20 is running the latest version of Android. V 9.0

    Hi Charles...

    I have similar (not same) issues with Skysafari compass.

    It seems is a problem only for Huawei cellphones (i have Huawei P Smart Pro 2019). When compass option is enabled, it seems is not as accurate as i would expect. Skychart is always vibrating or jumping and oscilates around 1 1/2 degree or even more.

    No matter if i callibrate once, twice or 3 times my cellphone, the result is the same: an innacurate view.
