Suggestion: while trying to look closely at moon features, comparing with other maps to identify details, I needed to stop the ‘tracking’. I could do this by selecting time, and a 1 second change, and time would stop. But maybe a simple ‘Time Stop’ button would be more elegant.

The Time Flow panel is very space critical. There is really not room to add another button. Possibly the Now button could get reused when realtime is already on.
As an alternative, you can bring up Settings > Date & Time, and turn off "Use Current Time". This probably doesn't save any taps, but it is less kludgy.

To stop the real time just click the forward step button. Then click the backward step button to get back to the time you were at. Pretty simple.
