New Comets subscription

Comet 46P/Wirtanen has been around since 1948. Why isn't in the data base?

Do you have a subscription service that can be used to update the data base for new comets and asteroids?

I would pay for a service that updates my software.

I do not want a link to an article or a blog that discusses this Comets orbit and then asks me to Google a 'hidden' piece of data to resolve the issue.

I want to hit the SN Update button and get the correct data.

    Paul,

You are referring to Starry Night, right?  It does have the data but I think you need to increase the number of comets read at startup to 2,000 to get it to show.  Then search for "Wirtanen"

Hello Bill. I have a similar problem. I tried to do as you say, but I can't find where to increase the number of comets. The only modification I find is "comet tails" and "labels". OK I found where to increase the comets. I set it for 2000. Restarted SN and it worked. So I suppose this problem is solved.

    Windows 10 Pro, SN8PP beta ver:8.0.0.1579

Go to Preferences > Startup.  There is a text box to enter the number of comets read at startup.  Make it 2000.

    That's what I did.

And do you now find "Wirtanen" when you search for it?

Yes I do. In fact, this setting works on SN6pp, 7pro and 8 versions as well. I tried the same increase to the asteroid list to find 2104 JO25 which I tried to find when it came near but still couldn't (on any version).

Hello Bill. I just send a email detailing some curious thing happening on asteroids. I sent it trough email since the bug app didn't work and the option there was your email.

    Thank you!

    Adolfo,

Who did you send the email to?  I don't have anything in my personal email box.

If this is a Starry Night issue, please don't email me.  I work on SkySafari.  I would encourage you to post your problem in the appropriate Community Forum,  Note that the "Forum Feedback" forum is not the right place.

I posted it on the bugs section but it wasn't working. It only gave me an email link (support@simulation... I think) so I sent it there. Yes, it's a Starry night issue. I also posted it on the bug page the program sends me to. It was addressed to You and Keiron (the email). On the bug post I just stated the bug itself. It's about the asteroid list not showing (on screen) an asteroid (as a test I used one I couldn't make appear on SN6PP but it shows on SN7P BUT not on SN8PP beta, even though on the asteroids.txt file, on both versions. it is there. Just trying to help.
